We were founded in 1973 in Italy, in the city of Fano, nestled in the heart of the Marche region. We come from a territory with a rich history of skillfulness, where renowned cities of art alternate with historic villages and hilly landscapes stretching towards the seaside. Our story is typical of an Italian family-run business in which the common thread throughout the company’s development phases has been our dedication to developing industrial products with an artisanal bent. We were born out of the vision of our company founder, Novello Giovanelli who, in 1973, opened in Italy the first workshop for grocery store shelving. Over the following 50 years the family developed the business.
Nearly 50 years later, we have become an industry, we’ve become one of Italy’s foremost companies in the design and production of retail displays and fixtures. Produce displays, bakery fixtures, checkouts counters, and much more, have become our core business. Today, our business network extends from the United States to the European Union, most Middle Eastern countries, many African countries and as far as India and nearby areas, offering us an incredible blend of cultural interactions and international logistics.
In 2016, we opened our U.S. sales office, Gibam Usa Inc. Located on the coastline of New York Bay, in Brooklyn’s Sunset Bay neighborhood, in prestigious Industry City, we launched our first showroom in America. An exhibition space of 160sqm contains a wide range of our retail fixtures for food and no-food: produce and bulk displays, bread and bakery fixtures, wine displays, checkouts counters and much more can be seen and touched in person.
We produce in Italy, and we care about fostering and promoting Italian creativity and traditions. We work passionately, pairing the attention of artisanship with the efficiency of industry. We like to listen, be welcoming, trustworthy and establish strong, human relationships among each other and with clients. We use Italian semi-finished products, top quality materials and exclusive designs. At our main headquarters we work in a space of 29.000 square metres – the equivalent of 4 soccer fields – 15.000 square metres of which are covered. We work on 3 production departments: Woodworking-panel sizing and edge-banding and Woodworking-CNC drilling and boring for a total of 58.800 square feet; Assembly, 45.900 square feet; Packaging and Delivery, 56.600 square feet.
We are Italian, but our vision is decidedly international. Even when the world changes – and we substitute flying time with conference calls, our managers, architects and technicians continue to intermix and be influenced by global dynamics, while staying anchored to our aptitude for being welcoming and listening, which are part of what makes Made in Italy a brand that is recognized and appreciated the world over.
Our woodworking facility is equipped with various machines, suitable to mass-production or operator-driven tasks, so to be able to respond to different needs: large lots of the same element, small lots of different elements, elements frequently or infrequently worked, curved or oddly-shaped elements. All those cases are treated with the right working choice, with the aim to conjugate the reliability of industrial processes with the dedication of artisanal care.
We live and produce in Italy, and we care about fostering and promoting Italian creativity and traditions. We work passionately, pairing the attention of artisanship with the efficiency of industry. We strive to be proactive, flexible, quick and concrete – without ever sacrificing the gestures or attentiveness that make us a team. This, too, is part of being Italian. We produce our displays and store fixtures in Italy, using Italian semi-finished products, top quality materials and exclusive designs.

At Gibam, sustainability is reflected in the company’s culture, its environmental impact, in its relationship with future generations, in the relations within the company’s community and surrounding territory. This, to Gibam, is a sustainable future.
We look out for our health and that of others. We want to live and work well – meticulously and with all possible safety measures. We commit to staying constantly up-to-date to remain at the forefront of respect for the environment and health. We are convinced that eco-sustainable production is, first and foremost, of economic value. All of the semi-finished panels we transform are eco-sustainable down to the raw materials and are produced 100% in Italy. They are then processed using environmentally friendly technologies, inside of a production plant that is run on 70% sustainable energy.
FSC certification is an internationally recognized certification specifically for the forestry sector and forest-derived products. The FSC brand guarantees that the product has been made with raw materials that come from responsibly managed forests according two primary standards: forest management and chain of custody. All of our products are made with FSC certified semi-finished materials, thereby demonstrating – in a responsible, transparent and controlled manner – our active contribution to responsible forest management.
When making our products, we have chosen to only use low emission materials: all of the semi-finished materials we transform are Carb II certified. This certification – which has been required in the United States market since 2018 – ensures that producers, distributors and panel processors respect the formaldehyde emissions limits set by the CARB “California Air Resources Board”. In 2020, we made the decision to use only semi-finished materials with this certification, not just for products destined for the U.S. market, but also for Europe and the rest of the world.
We make continuous investments in energy production systems that are efficient and eco-sustainable and able to guarantee the quality of the production line, while respecting the environment. The photovoltaic system with solar paneling at our plants produces 1,487,436.5 kwh per year, of which: 72% for company use, 14% offices, 9% lighting, 5% stands. It is a great challenge to be eco-sustainable. We are committed: we owe it to the beautiful planet that hosts us during our passage and to future generations.
